Although LCD technology is not too old, it seems that this technology is already on the limits and no longer promising to get profit. One company that will stop in LCD technology is Samsung. The Samsung Group will stop investing in its LCD and put more balls in the OLED technology more promising and potentially more profitable. Having now reached its technological limits and no longer profitable at all (it would weigh very heavily on the financial results), LCD display technology is no longer really interested in the Samsung Group.
As its announced on Monday, the South Korean giant has decided to put his marbles elsewhere, namely in OLED technology, which offers much better image quality, shows a lower power consumption, allows TVs and much finer leaves especially considered better margins due to the few households equipped and low competition (unlike the LCD market). Samsung is going to significantly reduce its investment in LCD technology, and the production of slabs and televisions based on it. And since it is part of a major supplier of tiles, one can thus expect the industry to follow suit. According to a survey by Display Search, it may well OLED TVs in 2015 reached 16% of all sales of televisions, generating a turnover of 20 billion
