Nokia, Motorola and RIM filed a challenge to ETSI technology non-SIM card that Apple would standardize for Europe. There is not that courts around the world as mobile phone manufacturers like to tear each other's hair. This time they brought one of their quarrels to ETSI, the European body responsible for standardization. The cause is of their discord? Apple is on track to recognize the concept of nano-SIM by ETSI. If that happens, competitors should comply. As its name suggests, the nano-SIM in question is a format even more compact than the current micro-SIM as it would be two thirds smaller. European operators are also supportive of the project from Apple. But Nokia, Motorola and RIM do not really hear it that way.
They question the technical part of the project, argents the nano-SIM Apple requires a little box that slides on rails. A bit is like the iPhone which already 4/4S. The reason behind the miniaturization of the SIM is that manufacturers always looking to gain more space in the crowded interior of Smartphone. However, the box surrounding the nano-SIM solution with Apple would lose much of the place won. Nokia maintains that its solution is much better thought. And the Finn has even found valuable allies of convenience with Motorola and RIM. The trio of builders feared that in the end, Apple finds a way to force them to pay royalties on the implementation of its system of nano-SIM.
