Brussels intensifies the falling
price of mobile calls in Europe past. From 1 July, the Europeans will benefit
from a tariff of 29 cents for a call made on a mobile from abroad. Good news if
you plan to travel to Europe next summer. Your mobile phone bill will be less
onerous from 1 July 2012. The European Parliament and member states of the
Union signed yesterday an agreement to lower the price of calls from abroad
(roaming). Currently the maximum price is set at € 0.35 per minute. This price
will increase to € 0.29 per minute from 1 July, against € 0.32 originally
envisaged. The rate will increase to € 0.24 on 1 July 2013 and at € 019 July 1,
2014, against € 0.24 proposed last summer.
For calls received, the maximum price will increase from € 0.11 a minute today to € 0.09 on 1 July next, then € 0.08 in 2013, and € 0.06 in 2014. Same trend for SMS, whose rate will increase from € 0.11 today to € 0.09 on 1 July next, then € 0.08 in 2013, and € 0.06 in 2014. Finally, concerning the data (mobile internet, mail etc..), The Brussels also spares no effort, since the price, currently uncapped, will be limited to 0.70 € / MB on July 1 and € 0.45 in 2013 and € 0.20 in 2014. The purpose of these is the significant decreases gradual establishment of a genuine single market for telephony in Europe, with a near zero difference between the price of mobile communications in those national roaming abroad.
